많은 분들의 힘을 입어 2015년 올해도 변함없이 인사를 드리게 된 것을 기쁘게 생각합니다.
사단법인 현대사진미디어연구소가 기획, 집행하는 전주국제사진제가 어느덧 올해로 8회를 맞이하게 되었습니다. 많은 사진인 들의 성원과 지역주민의 관심으로 인하여 변함없이 준비하고 있는 전주국제사진제 운영위원회는 생기 있는 5월의 계절에 여러분을 맞이하고자 바쁜 나날을 보내고 있습니다.
이번 전주국제사진제를 지휘하게 될 2015년 사진제의 총감독으로는 성남훈 다큐멘터리 사진가를 선정하였고, 전시감독으로는 싱가폴 난양대학교 오순화교수가 주제전을 기획하게 되었습니다. 또한 올해는 예전과 달리 “페스티벌 인 페스티벌” 프로젝트로 실내에서 실외로 전개되는, 보다 라이브하고 보편적인 스트리트 전시를 강화하였고, 전북예술회관 및 전주향교, 전주한옥마을 일대 갤러리 와 주변의 담벼락과 일반 건물들의 내부 등을 일종의 전시 공간으로서의 용도로 활용하면서 약 25여곳의 장소에서 사진전시를 마련하게 되었습니다. 사진제 전체적인 프로그램으로는 워크-샾과 포트폴리오 리뷰, 유네스코 아.태교육윈의 “아시아의 부엌” 이라는 테마의 전시가 마련되었고 야외 대형스크린과 힐링 로드, 막걸리 로드등이 관람객 및 일반인들의 위한 즐거운 행사를 기획하였습니다. 특히 전주여명박물관과의 공동 주관 협정을 통해 앞으로는 전주국제사진제의 위상을 크게 높일 것이며, 박물관과 갤러리, 사진제간의 연계를 통한 하드웨어 구성으로 훨씬 발전된 기획을 구성할 수 있는 계기가 마련된 것에 대해 매우 흡족한 성과가 있을 것으로 기대됩니다. 주제전 전시인 “After Photography”에서는 오순화감독이 추천한 해외의 유수한 작가가 초청되었으며 미래의 사진예술을 엿 볼수 있는 좋은 전시가 될 것을 확신합니다. 올해 8회째가 되는 전주국제사진제는 이제 조금씩 꽃을 피울 준비를 하고 있습니다. 그동안 어려운 환경에서의 여러가지 시련은 운영위원분들과 사진인 및 지역민들의 관심과 협조가 있었기에 극복이 가능하였고 전주와 전라북도를 더 넘어서 세계의 사진축제의 장으로 발돋움 하기를 기대해봅니다. 아울러 도움을 주신 각 기관, 사진 관련단체, 문화예술단체등 모든 분들에게 운영위원회를 대표하여 깊은 감사를 드립니다.

Welcome! I am pleased to give greetings this year again.
Jeonju International Photo Festival is planned and executed by Contemporary Photo Media Research Institute, and the festival reaches the 8th this year. We are preparing the festival with huge support and interest from many photographers and local people, and we are spending busy days to receive all of you.
We selected documentary photographer Namhoon Seong as general manager of the festival and professor Soonhwa Oh of Nanyang University in Singapore as exhibition director to plan the main exhibition. Moreover, a project entitled ‘Festival in Festival’ brings exhibitions to street. In order to do this, we prepared 25 places such as Jeonbuk Art Center, Jeonjuhyanggyo(confucian school), galleries in Jeonju Hanok Village, and even walls. Workshop, portfolio review, exhibition ‘Kitchen of Asia’ from UNESCO APCEIU is arranged and outdoor big screen, healing road, Makgeolli(rice wine) road is also arranged for fun. Especially, we made a cooperative agreement with Yeomyeong Camera Museum to soar the festival’s prestige. The connection between museum and gallery would provide more developed plan, and we expect this gives us satisfied result. In the main exhibition ‘After Photography’, many distinguished overseas artists who recommended by director Soonhwa Oh are invited, and we feel confident that you would be able to peek future photo art. The 8th Jeonju International Photo Festival begin to bloom. We could overcome ordeal with concern and cooperation from operation committee members, photographers, and local resident, and we expect the festival can become a global photo festival. I would like to thank all institutions, photography organizations, and culture and art organizations on behalf of operation committee.
