Jeonju International Photography Festival welcomed 12th anniversary this year.
So far, the Jeonju International Photography Festival has built a small platform of photographers who share the region through a variety of genre-specific content, along with many photographers from home and abroad. This year's Jeonju International Photography Festival is held from May 18 to 26 in Jeonju, a culture-oriented city as usual. In particular, this year, through cooperation with the association of Seohak-dong Gallery-gil, a representative art village in Jeonju, we will host a rich photo festival with most of the exhibition halls and art workshop street located on the gallery road. This year's theme is [Omnibus+人]. The special purpose of the festival is to break away from one topic and to capture the various people's images in this time. Participating artists include Koo Bon-chang, a leading author of modern Korean photography, and the Festivals in the World, a group of 22 photographers who work at the "Main Street Wilson Outdoor Photo Festival" and four photographers who record the city culture selected by the KLPF (Kualan Photo Festival). I'm looking forward to a photo festival of four photographers, including Lee Joon-yong, who works in the U.S., and their students' 13 student works, and I'm participating in a seven-person exhibition organized by the documentary photographer Sung Nam-hoon, who has led the Jeonju International Photography Festival since the early days. Again, the Jeonju International Photography Festival is going to try a different experiment. Photographs and collaboration with the local art village, which has escaped from the large exhibition hall, are expected to give visitors another treat. Also, I would like to thank curator Jerome De Perlinghi, Jessica Chan, and professor Lee Joon-yong for visiting for participation, even though it is a long distance away. And I would like to thank all the members of the “Institute of Modern Photography & Media”, who have conducted the Jeonju International Photography Festival for 12 years, and all those who have been interested in it. The committee will continue to work hard for the experimental challenges and the memorable scent of the beautiful art village of Seohak-dong in Jeonju.

전주국제사진제 운영위원장

전주국제사진제는 올해로 12회를 맞이하였습니다.
그동안 전주국제사진제는 국내외 많은 사진가들과 함께 장르의 구분 없는 다양한 컨텐츠를 통해 지역과 함께하는 사진인들의 작은 플렛폼을 구축하였습니다. 올해의 전주국제사진제는 예년과 같이 문화향유의 도시인 전주에서 5월18일부터 26일까지 개최됩니다. 특히 올해는 전주의 대표적 예술마을인 서학동 갤러리길 협의회와의 협력으로 갤러리 길에 상주되어 있는 대부분의 전시장과 예술공방거리등이 함께 참여하는 풍성한 사진축제로 진행합니다. 올해의 주제는 [ Omnibus+人] 입니다. 이번 사진제의 특징은 예년과 달리 한 가지 주제를 탈피하고, 다양한 사람들의 모습들을 이번 사진제에 담아내자는 의미입니다. 참여 작가로서는 한국 현대사진의 대표주자인 구본창작가, 세계의 사진축제들과 함께하는 Festivals in Festival에서는 “메인 스트리트 윌슨 아웃도어 포토페스티벌”에서 활동하는 22명인의 사진가, KLPF(쿠알라룸푸르 사진축제)에서 선정한 도시문화를 기록한 4인의 사진가의 작품이 초대됩니다. 미국에서 활동하는 이준용 작가를 포함한 4인의 사진가의 작품과, 그들의 제자인 13명의 학생작품들로 더욱 풍성한 사진축제를 기대됩니다, 그리고 초창기부터 전주국제사진제를 이끌어 온 다큐멘터리 사진가 성남훈이 기획한 8인의 작가, 사진전문 잡지인 포토닷 박이찬 대표가 기획한 7인전으로 참여합니다. 이번에도 역시 전주국제사진제는 조금 다른 실험을 시도하려합니다. 대형 전시장을 탈피한 지역 예술마을과 함께하는 사진과 공방거리와의 콜라보레이션은 관람객들에게 또 다른 즐거움을 선사할 것으로 기대합니다, 아울러 먼 거리임에도 참가를 위해 방문해 주신 큐레이터 Jerome De Perlinghi, Jessca Chan, 이준용교수께 감사의 마음을 전합니다. 그리고 12년간 전주국제사진제를 집행해온 현대사진미디어연구소 회원들과, 관심을 가져주신 모든 분들에게도 고마움을 전합니다. 운영위에서는 앞으로도 실험적 도전과 함께, 아름다운 전주 서학동 예술마을에서의 기억될 만한 향취를 위해 더욱 노력하겠습니다.
